Press release: Pocket Gamer’s iPhone Game Developers World Championship kicks off

June 11, 2010

The best games and developers from around the world go toe-to-toe in a battle for national pride

PRESS RELEASE | For Immediate Release

London, UK – 11th June 2010 – Pocket Gamer is delighted to announce the inaugural iPhone Game Developers World Championship.

In a move that in no way steals FIFA’s idea, the event sees teams from around the world compete for the title of Best iPhone Game Developer in the World as we discover once and for all just which is truly the beautiful game.

Nominations from fans and readers have been whittled down through a tough qualifying phase, resulting a shortlist of 32. Over the course of June, Pocket Gamer will pit the games against each other, first in randomly selected groups and then in a straight knockout competition, until a winner is declared.

Winners will be decided on a combination of public vote and professional judging.

Voting will open approximately two days before each match kicks off. Pocket Gamer will then tally up the votes at the end of each match, convert it to a proportionate score and combine it with the critical ‘first half’ score to decide who wins.

Your virtual tournament wall chart, listing the upcoming fixtures, results of matches played (together with a link to the match report), and, most importantly, your chance to sway the results by voting for your favourite games, developers, or countries can be found here: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/iphonewc.asp

So make your voice heard and get voting now!
